Based in Owings Mills, Maryland, ARC Excess & Surplus of MidSouth was established to assist what we believe to be the under-served Maryland, DC, Virginia and South Atlantic Coast professional and management liability insurance marketplace. As an E&S broker, we have access to both admitted and non-admitted markets as well as markets dedicated solely to wholesale brokers. We adapt to the specialized needs of our clients; no account is too small or too large. Our product knowledge, industry leverage and understanding of risk separate us from the competition. We operate as the outsourced professional liability department to retail brokers who are unable to dedicate the necessary time and resources to effectively manage the ever-changing and highly technical world of management and professional liability insurance. ARC’s experienced staff and laudable reputation in the insurance community make us the market of choice for your management and professional liability insurance needs. Some of those needs may include:

  • Directors and Officers Liability Insurance
  • Fiduciary Liability Insurance
  • Employment Practices Liability Insurance
  • Cyber Liability Insurance
  • Investment Advisors/Mutual Funds D & O and E & O Insurance
  • Crime Insurance
  • Kidnap and Ransom Insurance
  • Representations and Warranties Insurance
  • Managed Care Errors & Omissions Insurance

Larry Jones

Larry began his career in 1986 at CNA Insurance Companies (Chicago, IL) as an underwriter of Directors & Officers Liability and Fidelity Bond insurance for financial institutions. He later held underwriting manager positions at Virginia Surety (an AON company) and Great American Insurance Company where he managed a book of non-profit associations, school board liability, public officials, and “hard to place” corporate D&O accounts. After accepting a position as the Commercial D&O National Product Leader for USF&G Insurance Company, he relocated to Baltimore and successfully led the company into the commercial D&O marketplace until it was subsequently acquired by St. Paul Insurance Companies in 1998. After the acquisition of USF&G, he led Crum & Forster’s foray into the professional liability underwriting arena and created the company’s first D&O policy forms and rating plan. Later, Larry returned to Chicago with Genesis Professional Liability Managers (a Berkshire Hathaway company) where he spent five years underwriting and managing a book of publicly traded companies for the D&O product line.

Larry has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration (with an emphasis in Management and Insurance) from Ball State University in Muncie Indiana and a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago, Illinois. He is a current member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and Past Member of the Insurance Roundtable of Baltimore and the Independent Insurance Agents of Maryland.

Currently, Larry is the state coordinator for Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG (AWH-NYSE) Lawyers Professional Liability product in the states of Maryland, Virginia and counting.

As a former college basketball player (with the sore joints to prove it), Larry enjoys bike riding, hiking and spending time with his adult children. Not much riles Larry, but poor planners and people who over-promise, rub him the wrong way.
