Christopher J. Cavallaro, RPLU
Managing Director of ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC, Chris began underwriting at American International Group in 1974, having graduated Cum Laude from Queens College in NY with an Economics and Finance degree. He left AIG in 1986 as a Senior Vice President of both the Management Liability and Professional Liability Divisions, with overall responsibility for all underwriting and claims control in those areas.

In 1986 Chris was one of the co-founders of ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC. The company has since grown to be the largest single independent wholesale brokerage firm specializing in Management Liability & Professional Liability, placing over 450 Million dollars in premium with over 45 insurance companies.

Chris is a well known speaker and respected authority in all areas of Professional and Management Liability. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the PLUS Founder's Award and is a Past President(1999) of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). His articles have been published in the PLUS Insurance Journal, Y2K Magazine and other sources.

Michael Cavallaro, RPLU
Michael Cavallaro is a director of ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC where he specializes in the underwriting and brokering of management and professional liability insurance products. Prior to joining ARC in May of 1992, his experience in the Directors & Officers Liability / Professional Liability Insurance field was as an underwriting assistant with American International Group from 1985 – 1990 and as an underwriter with Gulf Insurance Company from 1990 – 1992.

Mike has published articles and has given speeches concerning management and professional liability and is considered a leader in the industry. From 2001 through 2004, he was the co-chair to the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) D&O Liability and Insurance Issues Symposium, one of the most well-known and attended conferences regarding Directors and Officers Liability Insurance. Mike has also received the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation granted by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).

Mike graduated with magna cum laude honors from City College of New York (CCNY), where he received a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) and a minor in Mathematics.

John Semeraro
John Semeraro is a director of ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC and has been with the firm since January of 1992. Prior to joining ARC, Mr. Semeraro held various managerial positions in both brokering and underwriting - the latest of which was Senior Vice President with Marsh/FINPRO Division.

With over twenty-five years experience in the Directors& Officers and Professional Liability Insurance arena, John brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

John graduated from Hofstra University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He has also attended Hofstra for various graduate-level courses.

Robert Cavallaro, Esq.
Robert Cavallaro joined ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC in October 2006 with 10 years of experience in the legal and insurance fields. During his tenure in law school, Rob worked both as a legal intern at American International Group in the summer of 1996, and as an associate at McCarrick & Mayer P. C., (a law firm specializing in the representation of management & professional liability insurers) in the summer of 1997.

From September 1998 to April 2005, Rob practiced law for three prominent New York City law firms, representing clients in connection with a variety of project finance, public finance, asset finance and structured finance transactions. After deciding to change professions, Rob spent the next year and a half as an Executive Underwriter at Hartford Financial Products performing risk management analysis and underwriting directors and officers liability and errors and omissions liability for financial institutions, including investment and commercial banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, investment advisors and mutual funds.

Rob is the author of an article published in 1997 based on the research he performed while working as a legal intern at AIG entitled Corporate Buyer Beware:Deficiencies in Directors' and Officers' Insurance for Employment Practices Liability, 26 Hofstra L. Rev. 217 (1997).

Rob graduated with summa cum laude honors from St. John's University in May 1995 and received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in May 1998.

Robert D. Crocitto
Robert D. Crocitto is a broker at ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC, since 2001, handling many of ARC’s largest Publicly Traded Accounts. Rob specializes in the structuring and placement of Management and Professional Liability Coverage, EPLI Coverage as well as all forms of Crime/Fidelity Coverage for large corporations. Prior to joining ARC, Rob spent 12 years at Frenkel & Company, Inc. (a large International Insurance Brokerage firm headquartered in New York City) as Vice President of both their Commercial Accounts and Business Development Divisions. While at Frenkel, Rob managed the D&O and Professional Liability Coverages for Frenkel’s largest accounts for both their East and West Coast offices. Prior to working at Frenkel, Robert spent four years with BDS Securities, Inc. (NY).

Rob received his B.S. from St. John’s University, NY with Cum Laude honors in 1990 where he served as both a University Senator and Executive Board President of the Student Government. Rob was awarded the Outstanding Student Achievement President’s Medal at graduation. Rob is currently pursuing his Charted Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from The College of Insurance (NY).

Robert Drew
Robert Drew started his insurance career in 1970 with AIG where he held various administrative and underwriting positions with several of the AIG companies including American Home Insurance Company, National Union Fire Insurance Company and American International Underwriters. His last position at AIG was manager of the Pension Trust Fiduciary Liability unit.

Upon leaving AIG Bob held positions as an MGA with Capacity Managers International and subsequently,Vice President of Fred S James Management Liability Unit.

Upon leaving Fred S James he joined Reliance National for several years. Bob joined ARC as a broker in 1993 where he has since developed a book of business that spans the Professional Liability spectrum,with emphasis on D&O and EPLI.

Joseph S. Gravier, RPLU
Joe began his insurance career in 1992 with National Union Fire Insurance Company, an American International Group (AIG) subsidiary, in the Financial Services Middle Market Department in the New York City Branch Office. His responsibilities included underwriting Directors & Officers Liability and servicing brokers in the New York area, including but not limited to servicing ARC .

Joe joined ARC in the spring of 1994, where his responsibilities included brokering all lines of Management/Professional Liability, excluding Medical Malpractice Liability.

Joe is a graduate of St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management/ Administration. He has also completed and earned the RPLU designation offered by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).

Christopher Karcz started his career with ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC in June of 2000. He has since been brokering a book of business which spans the whole spectrum of Executive Protection lines of coverage. This includes Directors and Officers Liability (for non-profit, private and public entities), Employment Practices Liability, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Lawyers Professional Liability, Investment Advisors/Securities Brokers Professional Liability, Architects & Engineers Professional Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Commercial Crime and Kidnap and Ransom Coverage.

Jeffrey J. Karcz, Jr., RPLU
Jeffrey Karcz has been with ARC Excess & Surplus since 1996, brokering Directors & Officers Liability, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Pension Trust Fiduciary Liability, Employment Practices Liability, and related specialty coverages. Jeff's specialty at ARC has been in the Employment Practices arena where he has completed an extensive comparison of many of the policy forms in this rapidly changing market.

Prior to joining ARC Excess & Surplus, Jeff was an underwriter at National Union where he started in New York and was later transferred to Philadelphia. At National Union, Jeff underwrote Miscellaneous Professional, Public Officials, Third Party Administrator, Association Professional, Computer Professional, and Patent Infringement Liability Insurance.

Jeff is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society where he earned the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation in May 1999. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany with a degree in Psychology.

John McKenna Jr. has been with ARC since May of 2003 building and brokering his own book of business as well as working alongside Chris Cavallaro on many of ARC's largest accounts . Prior to working at ARC, John spent four years at Professional Risk Facilities, a managing general agent specializing in the underwriting of Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability and Miscellaneous Professional Liability.

John graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY and subsequently graduated with cum laude honors from Loyola College in Maryland, where he received a B.A. in History and Political Science. John has also completed a number of insurance classes at Hofstra University and he is currently pursuing his RPLU designation.

Anthony Rodriguez
Anthony Rodriguez began his insurance career in 1991 with the Management Liability Division of Gulf Insurance Company. Tony spent five years working at Gulf on all aspects of Directors and Officers Liability and Miscellaneous Errors and Omissions Insurance. From 1995 through 2000 Anthony was an underwriter for Professional Liability, Fiduciary, Directors and Officers Liability and Fidelity coverage at CNA and Great American Insurance Companies.

Tony began his brokerage career with Arden Financial Services in September of 2000 specializing in the placement of all aspects of Management and Professional Liability Insurance. Anthony joined ARC in September of 2004 as a broker. His responsibilities include supporting Mike Cavallaro in the placement of Professional and Management Liability products. Robin Schmitt
Robin Schmitt brings more than twenty years of experience with him to ARC Excess and Surplus, LLC. Robin started with AIG in 1982 underwriting D&O, Professional Liability, and was responsible for overseeing the New York region prior to departing. Robin later went on to manage Cigna Insurance companies D&O/Professional Liability Department from 1988 -1991.

Robin managed Transatlantic Reinsurance Holding Co's Professional Liability Facultative department on a Domestic and International basis from 1991 to 1994, inclusive of Program and Treaty management. Robin went on to become Vice President at Everest Reinsurance in 1994 managing the Professional Liability product line for Treaty and Facultative business worldwide up until 2001 when he joined the ARC family.

Maria Scibilia
Maria Scibilia has been working at ARC for the past six years during which time she attended the State University of Old Westbury where she graduated in May 2004 with a B.S. in Finance. In 2004 Maria began her career as a broker, and has been developing her own clientele as well as partnering and assisting Chris and Mike Cavallaro with Professional and Management Liability. Peter Taub
Peter Taub joined ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC as it's General Counsel / Claims Consultant in September 2004. Peter provides services to our Retail Brokers and Insureds relative to all Management and Professional Liability claims matters. Peter is integral in all of ARC's clients' claims matters. He assists, each ARC broker in those claims which have coverage issues, and assists insureds with the claims process.

Peter is also responsible for managing a firm database so that we have a complete inventory of all claims within ARC.

He came to ARC after five years at MMC, most recently serving as a Vice President in the Marsh FINPRO Advisory unit in New York, where he advised clients on a full-range of management and professional liability insurance placements.

Peter began his insurance career as an underwriter in the Financial Institutions Group at AIG. Peter is an attorney and was an associate at a law firm where he represented clients involved in coverage litigation.

Peter received his B.A. in History and American Studies from Brandeis University, his J.D. from Widener University School of Law, and his LL.M from Pace University School of Law. He is admitted in NY, NJ, PA and Washington, D.C.

Craig Thorsen is a producer at ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC brokering management and professional liability insurance products. Prior to joining ARC in 2002, Craig's experience in the Directors and Officers Liability/Professional Liability Insurance field was as a vice president at CNA fort 8 years, specializing in financial institutional products. He was a senior underwriter at AIG from 1991 to 1994 specializing in financial institutional management liability products.

Joseph Vaccaro
Joseph Vaccaro brings to ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC an extensive amount of underwriting experience in the Management Liability arena. As a Senior Vice President with AIG's National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., Joe spent approximately seven years within the Financial Institutions Group. There, he specialized in Directors & Officers Liability, Professional Liability, Employment Practices, Fiduciary Liability, and Fidelity for banks and insurance companies. Prior to joining AIG, Joe worked for Chubb & Son in their Executive Protection Department underwriting similar management liability coverages for commercial insureds. Joe began his career with MassMutual in their Group Life and Health division .

Joe holds a BA in Government from Bowdoin College and received his MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University.

Robert DiRico
Robert DiRico is a Broker at ARC who has joined us having previously spent 2 years as an Underwriter in AIG’s professional liability division. While there, he handled commercial market companies, specializing in technology and computer network security liability related coverage. Prior to his tenure at AIG, Rob spent 2 years at Transworld Facilities, Inc., a wholesale insurance agent specializing in General Liability and Property insurance.

Rob graduated from Hofstra University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, with a minor in Mathematics. He has since obtained his Property and Casualty Brokers License from Poh’s Institute and has begun the pursuit of an RPLU designation.
