Team Bios
Gary G. Beck, AAI, BCFE, has been in the insurance industry since 1975. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, the Risk Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and has an LLH diploma from Clare College, Cambridge University where he read History and Law. He earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) (with honors) from Northwestern University School of Law. (Not licensed nor admitted in the U.S.)
Mr. Beck was the Corporate Risk Manager for what is now United Airlines, and since 1980, has been the President/CEO of a risk management, brokerage and consulting firm. From 2002 to 2004, he was Of Counsel and a consultant to Aon Corporation specializing in the Legal Industry Practice. Mr. Beck joined Willis Group Holdings in August 2004, where he was Executive Vice President and chaired the Professional Services Industry Practice Group, specializing in large law firms. Since May 2007, he has chaired the Professional Services Group, a retail brokerage operation that serves law firms across the country and provides litigation consulting on insurance matters.
Mr. Beck is board-certified in insurance forensics; tribunalized at Lloyd’s, London; and holds the Accredited Advisor in Insurance professional designation. He is licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance as a multi-line claims adjuster and insurance agent. Mr. Beck teaches as an adjunct at the University of Texas, School of Law from time to time and has lectured in its Trial Advocacy Program.
Mr. Beck is an invited member of the Insurance Section of the State Bar of Texas. From 2000 to 2004, he was a member of the Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct Committee of the State Bar of Texas under the auspices of the Texas Supreme Court. Mr. Beck has done a number of major litigation projects including being Exxon’s principle expert in Exxon Valdez v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London and a submitted panelist on the arbitration panel in the Dow Corning breast implant litigation. He was also involved in the seminal IP case that established the “doctrine of theft of trade dress,” Taco Cabana v. Two Pesos.
